Brief on the
Ngos in Lebanon that presented alternative reports to the UN's
Cedaw's committee

The Lebanese Women's Council
The
Lebanese Women's Council drafted in 1999 the "ngo national report
on the progress made after the Beijing conference". This report
was with the collaboration of the UNIFEM-OXFAM and the Freiderich
Eibert Foundation. The Council prepared this report along with the
Non-Governmental National Committee for the Follow-up of Women's
Issues ( post Beijing).
The
Lebanese Women's Council also participated in the elaboration of the
first official national Lebanese report on the CEDAW convention that
was presented to the UN's bodies during Beijing +5 in New York this
year.
2-The
Non-Governmental National Committee for the Follow-up of Women's
Issues (post Beijing)
The
Non-Governmental National Committee for the Follow-up of Women's
Issues (post Beijing ) drafted in 1999 along with the Lebanese Women's
Council the " national NGO report on the progress made after the
Beijing conference". This report was prepared in collaboration
with UNIFEM-OXFAM and the Freiderich Eibert Foundation.
The
Committee also drafted in 1999 a "shadow report" evaluating
the application of CEDAW. This report was supported by the UNIFEM.
The
Committee also participated in the first official national Lebanese
report on the CEDAW convention that was presented to the UN's bodies
during Beijing +5 in New York in June, 2000 .
